Macungie Existed for 99 years under the name of Millerstown founded by Peter Miller in 1776. To avoid confusion with another Millerstown in Pa., in 1875 the borough was renamed Macungie which is roughly based on a Lenape word meaning, “bear swamp”. Macungie is known for its antique car fest,” Das Awkscht Fescht”, held in early August. The all-season Bear Creek Mountain Resort with skiing during winter, is minutes away.
